“Loved Wave's free receipts feature for years. When they killed it I tried Hubdoc, Dext, Expensify — all overkill. AutoFileEmail's free tier replaces what Wave used to do.”
Honest questions.
I still use Wave for invoicing — does AutoFileEmail conflict?
No. Wave invoicing is for outbound — sending invoices to your clients. AutoFileEmail handles inbound — filing the invoices and receipts you receive in your inbox. They're complementary.
Why did Wave shut down receipts?
Wave killed the receipt-scanning feature in September 2022 to focus on their core accounting and invoicing products. They never offered a replacement.
Does AutoFileEmail work with my mobile-snapped receipts?
Yes — forward your scanned receipt to any inbox we monitor (Gmail, Outlook, IMAP) and we'll file it. The fastest setup is Apple Mail / Gmail's built-in scan-document feature, then forward to your inbox.
I had years of receipts in Wave — can I import them?
Yes. Export from Wave (most users have already done this), drop the export into a folder in Drive, then use a Backfill Pack ($29 / $59 / $99) if you want them re-organized by vendor in our standard structure.
